Introduction to Campus Energy Use

The Engineering Team works to improve our buildings' HVAC systems and get the campus closer to carbon neutrality. They work on Building Projects, HVAC Savings Opportunities, HVAC Scheduling, and Holiday Shutdowns.

Our team's funding structure is set up so that the verified energy savings from our projects are re-directed to fund our team's budget. The savings we generated between 2016-17 and 2024-25 were enough to fully repay the campus investment in our team over that period - and new savings we generate are a net gain for campus. We are accomplishing this by building a portfolio of projects that generate savings year after year. The buildings we optimized in 2016 are still consuming less energy today than they were before our project, and are still generating savings today.
